Apr 14, 2019 (Apr 15, 2019) In the 1980s, the Department of Environmental Conservation wanted to restore peregrine falcons to the Adirondacks. They would build "hack boxes," which protected the chicks from predators until they were grown. The boxes were four feet high and made out of heavy plywood. The technicians had to place them on sheer cliffs at high elevations.
